"Taleggio is most likely the oldest soft cheese in the world having been created in 9th century Bergano in the Val Taleggio in northern Lombardy. It is very much an Italian tasting cheese but its washed rind gives the pungent smell of something you'd expect from France. The creamy taste is more like that of Gorgonzola Dolce and mild and sweet."
